Lightning Safe
According to the National Severe Storm Laboratory, lightning causes more destruction than all other environmental elements combined including floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes. Thunderstorms occur virtually everywhere and Pagosa Springs is known for its annual thunderstorm season. According to Coloradoan, an online newspaper: from 2005-2014, Colorado had the third-most lightning-strike fatalities of any state, with 17 total.
Protect your new or existing home with a Lightning Safe System from Spectrum Construction. Attractive air terminals (often called lighting rods) are installed on the roof which are then safely grounded with main conductors near the foundation.

Already have plans? Let us help make them reality
Often people have already made a decision on a floor plan/model but don’t realize how it will fit the property they are looking at. If you are in the process of looking for land, Spectrum Construction is uniquely suited to help. In addition to being a General Contractor, Steve is an experienced licensed surveyor in both California and Colorado. He can show you where the setbacks are and more importantly how close your neighbors could later build to your proposed home. This is important as it might affect your view or privacy in the future.
Perhaps you have found an existing home you are thinking of making an offer on and can already see some home improvements that are needed. Before you make that offer Spectrum Construction can help you determine if it is cost effective to make these improvements or to consider another home.
A Little Bit about the Owners
Steve has been a licensed contractor in California since 1982 and has been building in Colorado for 25 years. Over the years, they have built everything from small additions, vacation cabins, custom homes, and even a complete subdivision. When you meet Steve, his passion for building will be apparent from the first time you both speak. He takes a personal interest in every client and their project, from beginning to end.
The Schwartz’s first discovered Pagosa Springs in 1985 while vacationing with family. After yearly skiing and camping trips; their love for the great outdoors and the small-town atmosphere, made it an easy decision in 1996 to make Pagosa Springs their permanent home. Now the tradition continues with their son Doug and his wife Heather, having moved to Pagosa Springs to raise their two young sons and contribute to the success of Spectrum Construction. The family enjoys ski trips to Wolf Creek Ski Area in the winter and hiking trails & water sports throughout the area in the summer. Steve and Robbie are both actively involved in the community including Steve serving as past President of the local Home Builders Association and Chair of the past annual Home and Ranch Show. Both Steve and Robbie are volunteers for the local humane society, where Robbie retired as Executive Director after 13 years of service. Their love for Pagosa Springs and the community is contagious.
