STRUCTURAL INSULATED PANELS (SIPs)
What are SIPs?
Structural insulated panels (SIPs) are a high performance building system for residential and light commercial construction. SIPs are an incredible alternative to traditional frame construction. The panels consist of an insulating foam core sandwiched between two structural facings, typically oriented strand board (OSB). SIPs combine several components of conventional/frame building, such as studs and joists, insulation, vapor barrier and air barriers. They can be used for many different applications, such as exterior wall, roof, floor and foundation systems. SIPs are manufactured under factory controlled conditions and can be fabricated to fit nearly any building design. The result is a building system that is extremely strong, energy efficient and cost effective. The outside of the project can be finish with log sliding, wood sliding, stucco and many other types of finishes.
We have several SIPs suppliers that we work with in order to achieved the best products and quote for you. Are you curious what the finish product looks like? Spectrum Construction had built several SIPs home in the Pagosa Springs and has a great relationship with the owners who allow us to show off their finish homes.
